Born in Romania, Israeli coloratura soprano Monica Schwartz is acclaimed for her vocal agility, striking high range, and captivating stage presence. Possessing an impressive vocal ambitus, she enchants audiences when performing challenging arias and iconic roles such as the Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute, W.A. Mozart) and Olympia (The Tales of Hoffmann, J. Offenbach).

Monica is a member of the Phoenix Ensemble (directed by Myrna Herzog), with whom she has performed and recorded extensively in Israel. Her orchestral credits include performances with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva (both conducted by Chen Zimbalista), as well as the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra.

Operatic Highlights & Productions:

  • March 2025: Performed as Alcina in Alcina (highlights recorded for Israel’s national classical radio station, Kan Kol HaMusica) and performed in the opening concert of the 9th Bach Festival.
  • July 2024: Made her role debut as Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare in Egitto by G.F. Handel (Full production by Jerusalem Lyric Opera Studio & Festival).
  • March 2024: Performed as Morgana in Alcina by G.F. Handel in Bucharest, Romania (Coproduction by the Bucharest National Opera, the Jewish State Theater, and Jerusalem Lyric Opera Studio & Festival).
  • July 2023: Made her role debut as Morgana in Alcina by G.F. Handel (Full production by Jerusalem Lyric Opera Studio & Festival).
  • July 2022: Made her role debut as Despina in Così fan tutte by W.A. Mozart (Production by Jerusalem Lyric Opera Studio & Festival).
  • December 2021: Made her role debut as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia by G. Rossini (Production by Jerusalem Lyric Opera Studio & Festival).
  • July 2021: Made her role debut as Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart (Production by Jerusalem Lyric Opera Studio & Festival).
  • 2018: Performed the role of Barbarina in a full staging of Le Nozze di Figaro (W.A. Mozart) with Weimar Lyric Opera in Germany.

Recordings & Broadcasts:

Monica has recorded a full recital for Israel’s national classical radio station, Kan Kol HaMusica (The Voice of Music), alongside previous recorded concert programs for the station.

Diplomatic & Private Engagements:

Monica is a regular guest artist at events organized by the Embassy of Romania in Israel and the Israeli branch of the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR). In private and diplomatic events, she has performed internationally across Israel, France, and Romania
